Handmade Spätzle

Handmade Spätzle is formed by mixing the ingredients, pushing the dough through a mechanical device.

Home made spätzle are formed directly over a large pot of boiling water, into which they drop. After boiling gently, the spätzle rise to the surface; they are drained and served immediately.

Sounds pretty easy, but you do need major arm power to mix the dough and press it through the Spätzlepress.

Lebkuchen Heart

Lebkuchen Heart

What makes them so special?
Lebkuchen Hearts: pretty, sweet, and saying more than words.

Regular Oktoberfest visitors know that a rush of emotion is best expressed with a Lebkuchen Heart. A romantic “Herzerl” with an inscription saying “I love you!” is the perfect souvenir.

But why wait for the next Oktoberfest? All year long, there are plenty of occasions to give an exquisite “Fotoherzerl” to somebody special.

The traditional treat weighs about 100 gr or 3.5 oz and is made of juicy Lebkuchen, crunchy fine decoration and a white inscription made of sugar icing.

Where does Lebkuchen come from?
Well known around the world.

The forerunner of Lebkuchen was called "honey cake" and its history can be traced back to Egyptian burial objects. Via Belgium it made its way to Germany and finally arrived in Bavaria. However, the original recipe had changed significantly by then. Many bakers had added their own flavors to the mixture.

Instead of spreading honey onto customary cake, today’s ingredients are a lot more sophisticated: cinnamon, cloves, aniseed and other exotic spices mingle to give Lebkuchen its distinct taste and make for the amazing scent it gives off.

Lebkuchen used to be served as a dessert in monasteries. But for decades, men of all ages and all nationalities have bought these sugar frosted "Herzerl" for their "Wiesnprinzessin" (Bavarian for "Oktoberfest Princess"): as a little present, as a keepsake, or as an Oktoberfest souvenir.

Yummy!

What a beautiful gift made out of Lebkuchen and nicely decorated by hand. Sealed in plastic with little cord to hand around your neck. Edge frosting color may vary.
